Privacy

What we collect, and what we won't.

Nobi is not live yet, so no user data exists. This page states our intent now; the full policy publishes before the first account is created.

Status of this page

This is a statement of intent, not the final policy document. The complete privacy policy — including data processors, retention periods and the process for exercising your rights — will be published before Nobi accepts its first account.

What an account will need

The sign-up form on this site shows the full intended scope. An account needs a parent or guardian email address and a password. A child profile needs a first name and an age band.

  • No surname, date of birth, address or phone number for a child
  • No school, class or teacher information
  • No contact list, camera or microphone access
  • No advertising identifiers and no third-party ad networks

What the product records

To work at all, Nobi records progress: which missions a child has completed, which concepts they have unlocked, and the projects they build. This is what the parent view displays, and it belongs to the account holder.

It also records how the product is used, so the content can be made better: which mission was started, how many attempts it took, whether a hint was read, which tutorial step someone stopped at. That list is closed — the full set of things Nobi can record lives in one file in the codebase, and every field is either an identifier we already store or a number.

It contains no free-form text, so nothing a child types can end up there. No names, no email addresses, no project titles, no message contents. There is no third-party analytics service: the events reach our own servers and stop there, and the browser is configured to block requests to anywhere else. Deleting an account deletes them.

We deliberately do not record how long a child stares at a screen, or anything else that would only be useful for keeping them on it longer.

Who can see a child’s activity

The parent or guardian who holds the account, and nobody else. There are no public profiles, no open chat and no social feed inside Nobi.
